| 846.2 | Got a tee time? | TEAOFF::TUFTS |  | Mon Jan 15 1990 15:11 | 9 |
| | April/May begins the high season at Myrtle Beach--mid to last week of
March can save you a bundle on a golf package. The Chamber of Commerce
will send you a ton of material if you call them. Also Golf Digest is
always loaded with golf packages for that area. A warning however: be
sure you get a tee time from your hotel or condo as most tee times are
taken up to a year in advance; it isn't easy to get them now for this
    spring.

| | John, my stay down there was at the Marion Earl in North Myrtle
Beach. They have efficiency rooms which includes stove and
refrigerator. They were quite reasonable and they will set you up
for any courses you want and price your package accordingly.
This place is right on the beach also.
You can call (803) 272-5181 ask for Scott Taylor and tell him Stu
    sent you.

I agree with -1. You may not get anything this late for the time
period you're looking for but good luck and good golfing.

| | I got back from myrtle beach a week before xmas. We stayed at the
Breakers and played a couple of courses. the greens were horrible, they
all had a lot of sand maybe fertilizer but the rest of the course was
in good condition. i was told most os the damage was to the hotels and
has far aa the courses it was mostly tree damage. the bar at the
Breakers is on the bottom floor and after the hurricane it had five
feet of sand. it was all re-done when we were there.

Could it be possible that they were overseeding the greens with
winter rye? I've been down to Fla. a number of times right before
Christmas and they reseed the greens at that time.

| | John,
I was at MB just after Hugo hit and the first part of December. The
golf courses did not suffer damage or what had happened was cleaned up.
All were open for play with the great Nicklaus Pawley's Plantation as
the last to be opened for play.

The beaches and piers are a different story. The are actually bringing
in sand to build up the beaches. Some say it makes for alot of noise if
you choice to stay on the Strand because the sand moving is a 24 hour
    operation.

I would also suggest that you call John Ritchey at (800)992-9775 for
rental package info. He manages a package called Island Green
    Holiday's.

| 846.7 | prices are cheaper in may!! | USADEC::PERCUOCO |  | Tue Jan 16 1990 11:56 | 12 |

When you get into late April, early May, the prices go down!
I just got into a package for late May and it's cheaper at
that time. Early April is more expensive as Spring Break week
falls during that time and the Air fares are high and the lack
of being able to make a reservation keep the prices up there.
A couple of years ago, we went in February and it was cheaper.
When you get into March /April time frame it gets more expensive.
The weather is alot warmer in May also.
