| I'm envious... BUT... maybe playing in 40 degrees, high winds,
and rain will make a better golfer of me! (At least my pain and
suffering threshold will be higher!!!)

| Curiosity strikes...
Does anyone frequent this file that lives in the Greenville S.C. area?
I'm considering relocating in that area and am curious about the golf.

| Rick, although I havn't played golf in Greenville, it is one of the
most beautiful cities in SC, maybe the best in the South. If Greenville
is anything like the rest of SC, you can bet there will be great golf.
I bet Clemson has a great course, and your not far from Furman U.
Furman has had a few notables play there.
Namely Beth Daniels, & Brad Faxon
Good Luck. I envy your move. I tried to find something in Greenville
myself.

I live in Los Angeles, but visit Spartanburg, S.C. to see my
Father-in-Law. Greenville is immediately adjacent. Each time we visit, we
take the three hour drive to Hilton Head for some outstanding golf. I
don't recall how I got in touch with them, but I have some E-mail from
RAVEN1::BLAIR, that suggested I try Links o' Tryon, in Tryon, N.C.
which is close by. The area is nice and there seems to be some nice
courses, but many are private. Of course Myrtle Beach is closer than
Hilton Head and may have more courses. It's not quite California and
doesn't have the variety of desert, mountains, ocean, links, etc. but I
have enjoyed all the courses in S.C. Good Luck.

I live in Columbia, SC but visit Greenville regularly both on business
and I've got in-laws there.
There are numerous excellent courses. I ususally pplay at Carolina
Springs which is a 27 hole club in Simpsonville, just outside of
Greenville. A brand new course has just opened within a mile of the
plant next to the Embassy Suites (can't recall the name). Paris
Mountain about five miles north of Greenville has a very nice, if
rather hilly course. Furman's course is LONGGG and beautiful, howver,
it is also private as are many of the nicer courses.
Actually Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach are about the same distance and
driving time from Greenville, close to four hours. The mountains of
North Carolina are only a couple of hours away. Grove Park Inn in
Ashville, NC has a very good course.
Roy Boulanger of the Greenville Field Service organization is an avid
golfer and can give you a lot more info on courses in the area, however
I do not think he follows this conference. You can E-Mail him at
AUNTB::BOULANGER or the DTN for the secretary there is 367-6225.
You will love South Carolina, especially from November through April
while all your friends up north are green with envy as you play every
weekend.
