Because Bermuda is a very small island (1 mile wide, 20 miles
long), there's not a lot of room for the golf courses. As
a result, the average length of holes is much less than what
you may be used to -- about 100yds for the par-3s, 250 for
the par-4s.
And that's how come the courses there are called the Bermuda Shorts.

I don't think you played at Mid Ocean then, there are no cheap
holes there. Matter of fact you see the eighteenth on a TV
commercial to hit a long ball over an ocean inlet. Port Royal is
another good track. They are the only two I've played there, so
you may be right about the others.
