| | You may want to try Middleton GC located on Rte 114 in
Middleton Ma. It's about 30-35 minutes from Lowell, has
a good variety of par 3 holes and when I used to play it
(7-15) years ago, always was in immaculate condition.
Take rte 495 to the rte 114 exit, head south on 114 and
it will be on the right hand side about 8-12 miles later.

| 113.2 | Try a Par 4 course | ADVAX::KALLUNKI |  | Tue May 26 1987 19:14 | 13 |

Try playing a par 4 course like Berlin CC off rt.62 in Berlin Ma.
Every hole can be reached in two with irons only...

To get there, take RT 62 West off of RT 495 follow it into
Berlin center. You will see a white church on your right directly
to your left will be a convenience store (also white). Take that
right , as a marker... there is a green sign "Berlin CC" on the
street sign pole. Follow that till you come to a large clearing
on your left, as a marker there will be a green "Berlin CC" sign
on a telephone pole to your right, take that left. Follow till
you see a fork, bear right. Then the course will be 1/2 mile on your
right from there. Good luck !

Any golf course can be played with only irons, hit them off the
tee, even on the Par 5's. Just don't plan on reaching all the holes
in regulation. Your score may suffer alittle, though it may not
    you'd be surprised.

Practicing like this has taught me to play my irons pretty well.

| | There's a PAR 3 on RT 20 just east of Auburn. Haven't played it
but sure have passed it enough driving by on the turnpike.

Also, if you come to Western Mass, there's another PAR 3 in Becket.
Again, I haven't played but sure have driven past enough times.

Like the previous reply though, play the regular courses. You'll
    round out your entire game.

    Best recommendtion.....Join a league.....you'll play more often.

| 113.5 | Stoneybrook in Southboro | CHAMP2::TLYNCH |  | Mon Jun 22 1987 18:44 | 15 |
| | There is a beautiful little par 3 course in Sothboro called
Stoneybrook. It is owned and operated by Joe and Peggy
Sullivan. They do a great job keeping the course in shape.
The course is located off of Rte 30 in Southboro, on a hard
to see side road. The road is located at the fork in Rte
30 between the Lew Horton Distribution center and the com-
plex where American Optical and Bose and all those companies
are. There is a small sign at the base of the side road.
The course naturally has all par 3's. One hole is about
200 yards and crosses a small pond. Two other holes are
	about 150 yards.
	Try it, you'll like it.

There is a terrific par-3 on the Cape called Blue Rock. I played
a couple of times there about 10 years ago. Immaculate. If you
are planning to play some golf on the Cape I would recommend it
highly. The holes range from about 140 - 220 yds. Anyone else
    ever play there?

| 113.7 | Nice, but ssslllooowwwwwwwwww!!! | HEFTY::WELLSPEAK | It's a Boy | Thu Jul 02 1987 19:55 | 22 |
| | Yes Dave, I played there last year. A very nice course. But
be prepared to take 6 hours to play 18 holes. I went with my brother
in law and our wives. It was my wifes 1st time ever on a course,
although she had been to the driving range about 8 to 10 times.
My sister-in-law had played on courses about 3 times before this.
Beleive it or not, we got held up on every tee. And not just for
a minute ot two, but for 5 to 10 minutes each time. There was a
4some of women in front of us, and as we caught up to them on one
tee, found out there was a 6some in front of them. Apparently this
course allows more than 4somes on the course. Combine this with
the fact that it's all par 3's where you have to wait for the
preceeding group to get off the green before you tee off, and you
    get very slow rounds.
It was a nice course though, as far as condition and challenge.
I used every iron in my bag. My wife enjoyed almost every hole.
There were 2 or 3 though, that she couldn't hit it far enough to
get over the water to the green. But she did make 2 pars. Incredible.
I didn't get 2 pars my 1st time out!!! She hasn't played since,
but says when we go back, she'll be happy to play on a par 3 course
again. Now to get her on a full length course!

| | ----{ Millbury Par Three?????}--------

I must say i've ben there a half a dozen time but it really isn't

a par 3 course a eighteen hole vary from about 60-115 i think the

longest is. It is very nice and it is great prctice for your 9,pw,sw

and putter but don't expect to pull any bigger than a 7I.
