Hello,
I'm Mario Reyes from Mexico city. We are relocating two Alpha
Systems a 7000 and a 10000, but I have a couple of questions. Firts, in
a near future Can I upgrade the alpha DEC 10000 to a 8400
and after the Batery Cabinet is useful for an Alpha
8400 5/440, the part number for the cabinet is H9B00-AG, in the
Turbolaser documentation I only see the H9B00-AF, it's the same?

There are no electronic nor mechanical differences between the DEC 7000 and the DEC 10000 series, the differentiation was made (or not made :-) in terms of services and support contract, etc., and on standard (rather than optional) features. In other words, there is no technical reason why a DEC 10000 could not be upgraded to an AlphaServer 8400. I don't know what the specific differences -- if any -- are between the H9B00-AF and the H9B00-AG battery cabinetry. If you're planning on this upgrade in the near future, acquire a copy of the upgrade documentation, and read through it. It might answer this... | |||||
