| 1117.1 | how about sim callout | AFW3::MAZUR |  | Wed Feb 26 1997 10:04 | 8 |
| | Have you tried running SIM CALLOUT on this memory? Do you know about that
console/diag feature. If you did try it, did it not find the problem?
It will call out the location of the bad sim.

	>>> Set sim_callout On
	>>> init

|  |     Hello,

    i try the Simm_callout, but i get no result.
    The system tells me that all is fine.
    Test MS7cc works also without errors.
    The Problem is described also in this note: 1109.

    TLASER FW V4.1-6

    additional info: System crash varios between 1h and 3-4 Day's.
    In case of systemcrash only Pwr / reset works, because the Console
    crashs and loop. (see in this Note entry 1109)
    All internal A8400 Diags runs (test for 3-8h) without any error.
    If a error detected the System hung, no <CNTR> P...... work.
    Also here only a Power reset get me the console back and no
    errorinformation are stored in any register.

    For the defektive memory i get from decevent the information that there
    is a problem with bank 1.
    Installed are two MS7CC-FA (2GB) Modules at the time of crash with 4
    way interleaving.

    My question only, also for future, what does 'dia' (decevent V2.2) mean
    with bank 1 ?
    Which SIMM's (Jxx) are Bank1, Bank2..........

    regards, Uwe

| | You have an intermittent bus protocol problem that could be due
    to any number of issues. Since you have identified the offending
    module, you should be all set. Nothing tests the system better
    than the OS with either specialized tests or customer Apps.

| 1117.5 | MS7CC-FA Layout the same ?? | COLES1::LONZECK |  | Mon Mar 03 1997 14:19 | 6 |
|  |     Hello,

    thanks for the Information about the MS7CC-GA (4GB Memory Module)
    Banklayout.

    Is the Banklayout for the MS7cc-FA (2GB Memory Module) the same ???
 |
| 1117.6 | Layout is not the same | TARKIN::HALL |  | Tue Mar 04 1997 10:01 | 2 |
| | No the simm layout is not the same. The MS7CC-FA (2GB) only has 2 banks
    per module. Where as the MS7CC-GA (4GB) has 4 banks per module.

| 1117.7 | Please provide Chart for MS7CC-FA | COLES1::SIEK |  | Wed Mar 05 1997 03:55 | 10 |
|  |     Hi!

    Is there nobody out there, that can provide the SIMM/BANK layout
    of the MS7CC-FA module as done in .4???
    We already had a lot of trouble with these modules, and as you can
    see in this entry, not all the problems can be found by setting
    SIMM_CALLOUT to on.

| 1117.8 | look in the PFMS... | WONDER::MUZZI |  | Wed Mar 05 1997 08:37 | 11 |
|  |

    The simm/bank callout is in the PFMS for both the 128/256/512/1gb and
    the 2gb boards, and the callout is correct in DECevent. I'm not sure if
    the 4gb board simm/bank has made it into the new PFMS but it should be
    there shortly...and the DEVevent that will ship with the new 4gb boards
    has the correct simm callout.

    thats not the right answer.

    What i need is:  MS7CC-xx   E2035-AA   Bank1 = SIMM Jxx ; Jyy ; Jzz
                                           Bank2 = .......
                                           ....
                     MS7CC-xx   E2036-AA   Bank1 = SIMM Jxx ; Jyy ; Jzz
                                           Bank2 ....
                                           ....

    I don't have any information about the PFMS.
