     The 4 gig module should be sold into systems that need that size
    capacity, and have few CPU/memory slots to spare. Two 2 gig modules
    will outperform a single 4 gig module by a small but measurable
    amount depending upon the application. 
    
     What one should strive for, if at all possible, is to allow 1 memory
    bank per processor. Thus a quad processor EV5/EV56 system with two
    (128/256/512/1024/2048) Mbyte modules of the SAME SIZE is a nice
    performance and cost effective match. Adding additional memory
    banks beyond the "1 for 1" has limited benefits in a EV5/EV56 based
    system again assuming that you are not looking for large capacity
    memory. This will NOT be true for the EV6 based TurboLaser systems.
    Since the TurboLaser EV6 implementation can issue 4 or more  times as many
    requests, the total number of memory banks becomes more important and
    the "1 for 1" rule is not valid. 
    
    
     If a customer wants a 8 gig, 8 CPU system, and has reason to believe
    that he/she will want to expand memory in the future, sell them two 4
    gigs. This leaves 2 free slots (assuming one I/O module) for either CPU
    or memory expansion without needing to play trade-in games in the
    future.
