I wandered into a local music store here in Colorado Springs and saw a flier with the following information: ENSONIQ EPS 16 PLUS -Same basic architecture as EPS as far as O/S -16 bit linear sampling (as opposed to 13 bit of the old eps) -24 bit f/x process (like on the VFX) -4 outs (6x out expander optional) -Can load instruments while the sequencer is playing -Will play eps samples (and I assume mirage samples) -Comes standard with 1 meg (equivalent of 2x expanded eps) expandable to 2 meg -Option memory available which will allow samples to remain in memory after the machine is turned off -Front panel similar to old eps with eps type soft buttons -Enhanced sequencer: Same event editing as VFXsd, multi-trak record mode. Step entry-does not exist. Price: $2395.00 RACKMOUNT EPS 16 PLUS -Fully expanded to 2 meg -3 rack spaces (like EPS-M) Price: 2495.00 Old EPS is being replaced by the EPS 16 PLUS, though they will continue to support the EPS. This news makes soooooooo proud that I recently bought an EPS-M! No
matter how hard I try, I just can't keep up with the latest MIDI toys.
This new version will be out before I finish reading the manual for the
"old technology".
