| 2291.1 | Which Tape Deck? | DRUMS::FEHSKENS |  | Mon Mar 19 1990 12:02 | 6 |
| | Almost every Tascam transport is rack mountable, so your question
    is awfully vague. What format (cassette, 1/4", 1/2", 1")? How many
    tracks (2, 4, 8, 16)?

    len (with Tascam 225 cassette deck and Tascam 38 8 track).

|  |     Hmm...

    Considering the timing of the question, my guess would be new 288. It's
    created a lot of discussion. Understand, tho, that it is an 8-track
    deck, and if you just 'need to buy another deck', you could save a few
    hundred (actually a few thousand) and get your 'techniques [sic]'.

    dp (who has had the transport blow on each of the Technics decks he
        no longer owns)

| 2291.3 | a "normal" 2-head cassette deck | HOWIE::HARRIOTT |  | Thu Mar 22 1990 16:37 | 14 |
| | Sorry about the vagueness and confusion.
This deck has more than 1 purpose. All I do know about it is that it is a
regular 2-head deck. If your song is all MIDI, then you can send the outputs
from your MIDI instruments to a mixer, and then send the outputs from the
mixer to the aux inputs of this deck.
It's a very high quality deck with several "extra" buttons on the front (I don't
know what the button are for)
The next time I go into a music store, I'll find out more about it. I was hoping
someone out there already had this piece and could save me a trip.

	Well, someone might. The trouble is Tascam makes more than one rack
mount deck. Off hand I can think of four models.

|  |     There's a new Tascam 122mkII out.  It is a 3 head machine, 4 track, 2
    channel, rackmountable deck with Dolby HX-Pro, B, C and separate ",
    XLR, and RCA inputs and outputs, and bias control.

    Looks real nice, but I'm not sure of the price. Anyone know what it
    goes for?
