| Pedal controllers aren't toooooo common, but Keyboard usually has
an ad... MIDI 'em to your favorite synth and away you go.
...and there's always a retrofit.

| A few months back I saw a few at Hampshire Music in Nashua. They looked like
Organ pedals and were MIDIed. NO sounds opf there own.
The price quoted me was ---> $500

| There is a company called Fast Forward designs that makes something
called the MIDIstep. It has a setup of footpedals kinda like the
Moog Taurus, about an octave and a half. This is a remote midi
controller for your feet. It sends out MIDI info only (no tone
generator).
By the way, these are the same guys that did the software for the
HR-16.

| I don't know if this should be in another note, but...
I've been asking around locally to see if there is a way to get
that big, fat, overbearing bass sound you hear particularly from
REGGAE bassists. You know the sound I mean, just the other side
of distortion (yeah!). I have yet to hear a factory patch that
comes close and layering still doesn't quite get me there. Is it
possible to get this kind of sound in MIDIland?

I use the "round wound finger bass" chip in my MIDIbass. Pretty
boomy, not much on harmonics, and definitely loads up the bass.

| Sorry Charlie,reggae bass sounds man-ja got to get da ganga-along
with a rack (figure 400w per ch.!!!!!!)and as many 18"woofers as
you can fit on your stage!that with a fender jazz+roundwound strings
will give the fattest reggae sound you've ever heard----not feasable
for me though!

I get along fine with only 220 watts and a single 15, but for *live*
most of the sound *is* in the amplification.
For studio? Get rid of almost everything above about 1 to 2 KHz,
boost in the 100 Hz range and compress like crazy. With that kind
of tweak, you can use almost any bass patch you have that sounds
remotley like an electric bass.
If you want the sound straight out of your synth, good luck. Try
closing down your filters quite a bit and have a good sustain level
on your envelopes, I guess would be somewhere to start.
