I've never heard of the KS-10's. The NS-10's were the very popular
mini nearfield monitor used in so many studios, until they went
out of production a while ago. They're very hard to find (I'm looking
for a set myself). Maybe? the KS-10's are the new replacement model.
(If so, maybe they redesigned the tweeters so you don't have to
use the cloth swatch in front of it).

    Just guessing.

I have on loan a set of JBL CONTROL1s at the moment. These are about
the size of a fairly large pair of Ghetto Blaster speakers. I.E.
10X6X6. The sound is tremendous, far better than any other small
speakers I have heard before (watch out for the subjetive view)
including the Yamaha's which I have also tried. Anbody else hear
    these?

I've sold my large speakers. Anyone have any further comments on
    very small, high quality speakers?

I am considering Yamaha Ks-10's, JBL Control1's, and ADS 300's.

I have had the Control 1's for about 2 months now and find them
    superb in a small environment.

    Karl,

Also check out the JBL 4406, they're real small and sound great
in a small space. A friend has them in his mixdown room.

The Fostex RM780's are also nice, they're coaxial, which gives a
little better phase response. They also have a switch on them that
alters the phase response depending how you mount them, horizontally
    or vertically.

| 623.6 | Check out the GENELEC Biamp's | HSTSSC::LEHTINEN | Timo Lehtinen, TSSC Helsinki | Sat Mar 28 1987 07:25 | 15 |
| | The best ones I know of are the GENELEC Biamp's. They are about
NS-10 size and active like all the GENELEC speakers.

Like the name implies the Biamp has a separate amplifier and protection
circuitry for both driver elements. It has a practically flat freq resp
between 50 Hz and 20 KHz and can produce a 96 SPL per pair in a
normally damped 40 cu.m control room.

Our local pub here has two pairs of them installed in there,
and that's the reason why we go there so often. ;-)
Without seeing it would be hard to believe that the sound is
    coming from so small box.
