A friend of mine has had a lyricon for years now and seems to enjoy
it very much. From what I know it's basically a saxaphone type
controller for synthesizers. He's using his to control an Oberheim
expander module and can really do some great things with this setup,
as the Oberheim allows for many different controller inputs. The
basic lyricon, I believe, uses voltage control type outputs. My
friend has a MIDI type interface for his, but prefers the voltage
control. (He says he can feel a delay wiith the MIDI controller,
but we won't get into that discussion here.)

| | I had been doing some checking prior to seeing this entry in this
note file. I was quoted a price of $3000 in Chicago.

Wurlitzer in Boston just sold their last used one for (they said)
$1200 ~ $1500. And that was their last one. There is another place
called Syntronics (617 266 5039) that seems to specialize in
synthesizers and such but the 'US lyricon distributor', "John",
wants $2500 for a used one.

At the time these were still produced they were selling for $1000
apiece, but this was back in 1980 and they were still being massed
produced. Now, you have to find someone who knows someone who owns
one of the patents on the thing. Anybody who knows someone who has
one and is interested in selling it, would you please send
them my way to discuss the financial arrangements.
