At last a relatively cheap sampler for C64 owners!
Microvox.
A full function digital sampler for under $500. It can sample in
one of 8 sampling rates (maximumm 42Khz, 20Khz bandwith). Includesa
waveform editor to cahnge samples and then play back at different
pitch (or backwards) using the computer keys or any MIDI keyboard.
Up to 16 voices can be held in memory and acessed by the 2000 note
sequencer, samples can be stored to disk.
Input/output filters eliminate any aliasing and quantisation noise
and companding gives effective 10 bit resolution.
An advanced product MICROVOX PRO also gives auto looping and velocity
sensitivity.

| 354.1 | Compander? | DSSDEV::SAUTER | John Sauter | Tue May 13 1986 15:15 | 5 |
How does the compander work? Does it decrease the time available
at a given sampling rate? I sure hope the claim of "effective
10 bit resolution" is true. I found that I can whistle a purer
sign wave than I can get out of an 8-bits-per-sample D/A.

After visiting Edd's studio and playing with his mirage, I realized just how valuable a sampler can be to a drummer. So I looked into this product more. The pro version is $399.95 and allows full waveform editing as well as digital effects (DDL, harmonizer, flanger, etc.). It even has a built in 2000 note sequencer. Now the bad news: It is MONO only :^( They do say that if they come up with a C128 version, it may be poly... Todd. | |||||
