The lithium battery in my MSQ-700 has finally retired, and as a
result the MSQ-700 will no longer remember anything. This is a
Maxell ER-6, 3.6v. AA-sized lithium cell. Anybody know where
I can find one or an equivalent?

That was the first place I tried. No dice. I've also tried
the obvious Radio Shack. There is no Maxell office in the Boston
area that I can find. EU Wurlitzer had 2 but some yoyo left them
in a battery tester overnight and they were retired too by the next
day. They are trying to get one through their Maxell distributor
or in extremis, Roland.
