(Attention Chroma owners)

The March '86 Keyboard magazine has the following article/ad.

"By the time you read this, Synth-Bank, a comprehensive synthesizer
software database, should be open. The service is being created
to eliminate the communication gap between artists, manufacturers,
and consumers. Through it customers will be able to purchase or
publish original sounds for a wide range of products, including
Emulators, Synclaviers, Fairlights and synth from Casio, Oberheim,
Roland, and Yamaha. Reportedly one source is already signed up with
THREE-THOUSAND RHODES CHROMA PROGRAMS to offer. For more information,
    write to Synth-Bank, 12080 S.W. Parkway, Portland, OR 97224."
I know nothing about this organization, but have written for
further information. Will let you know when it arrives.

| 255.1 | Want to get those patches/sequences over the phone? | DYO780::SCHAFER | Brad Schafer | Tue Feb 25 1986 14:56 | 9 |

Yeah, that looks real interesting. Hope you'll post the stuff when
    you get it.

Also, regarding patch transmission et al - Hybrid Arts is/has
supposedly coming/come out with a package that allows MIDI transmission
over phone lines using a modem!

When will this craziness all end?? I can't keep up ...

| Hybrid Arts also has a dialin available to their system. You can
dial in as a guest. there are Atari, commodore conferences, etc.,
also a direct line to the product developers at H.A.. sound familiar
    ?

The phone# for dialin was published in a Keyboard ad a few months
ago. Though I haven't dialed in ina while, I seem to remember a
menu section on phoneline downloadable software. Karl the IInd.

Well, I finally got a response from the Synth-Bank people, but
not a very informative one. Mostly, they asked me questions. Didn't
even give the price. I've rewritten them, and will post when they
    respond.

HOWEVER, --- I just bought a couple of Syntech Chroma MIDI
Converters (which I will review later) and in the box was the
    following note:

"As a Chroma owner did you know that you were a member of an
exclusive cult? You are. It's referred to officially as the Chroma
Cult. To register yourself, send your name, address, and number
to Chroma Cult Headquarters, 2681 Briarwood Pl., Thousand Oaks,
CA., 91362. There are no fees. We'll keep you posted on neat Chroma
stuff and providew a means for us all to share sounds.

    					Minister of Information,
    					Chroma Cult"

I know nothing about the above, but will write for more info.
