"Transoniq Hacker" is an "Independent Ensoniq Mirage User's Newsletter".
I just subscribed and received issue #6.  Back issues are available for $1.

Good info, but *VERY* 'light' tone.  As an example, two quotes from issue #6:

    "Free samples of this issue are being sent to Ensoniq's warranty card
     mailing list.  If you're one of these unfortunate wretches that don't
     receive all of this wonderful information every month - stop berating
     yourself.  Remedy this tragic situation - mail $15 to ..."

    and from the first paragraph of a software review:

    "Morality is steadily eroding; our cities are becoming unlivable thanks
     to pollution and rampant crime; U.S. interventionist policies promise to
     propel us into World War Three.  That's the bad news.  The good news is,
     the Mirage Visual Editing System is here."

This issue contained:

    1) a review of VES, the Mirage Visual Editing System
    2) classified ads (FREE!)
    3) "Copying Current Wavesamples to Another Location" by
	Steve Coscia, an Ensoniq employee
    4) "Partial Mirage Memory Map", by a hacker digging into the hardware
    5) a short note on how to change VES to screen dump
    6) a short article requesting that folks think about how to
       transfer memory dumps via low speed modems
    7) a short review of the first 5 Esoniq sound disks
       (it said that disks 6,7,8, and 9 were reviewed in issue #4)
    8) an article on changes in Mirage OS V3.x, the latest versions
    9) a Letters-to-the-Editor section - good letters, good answers,
       some from Ensoniq, some from the Editor

	I have a subsciption to that newsletter. I've got issues 5 and 6. I guess I got a free subscription when I sent in my warranty card. I agree, theres some good info in it. It's keeps you up to date with what's going on with it, so you know if you're missing out on something. Personally I think it could use some better writers, but I'll give them credit for what they've got. It kinda of reminds of the old Apple user's group newsletters I used to receive. It tries to come up with all the hacks you can use on your product. I just goes to show even more the transition between computers and music. Eventually people will be making their own compositions without even touching a piano or a keyboard. Except for the keyboard to the computer ! -Tom

	As an example of the good info, there was an ad from a company selling a program that allows you to buy 'normal' 3.5" micro-floppies and format them. This releases you from the tyranny of using the Ensoniq-only formatted disks at $15 ... EACH!!! -jim
