I've been looking for a book that explains the different types of waveform synthesis as well a description of what effect the different parameter settings have on the waveform/sound. Is there such a book(s)? thanks dave

I'm just looking to do some relatively simple basement recording stuff
    - put down a few tracks, mix them, and put them on a cassette. I've
done a limited amount of recording in studios, and although I dinked
around with recorders as a kid (my dad had a TV shop), I don't know
where to start in looking for equipment.
I've been studying this file for a while, reading all the
4-track/8-track notes, and certainly, there's a lot of good
information here. However (and reasonably so), what I don't find are
the basics. Can someone recommend a good book that, in less than 100
pages, covers the fundamentals of recording?
    Thanks,
    Charlie

Get "Home Recording For Musicians" by Craig Anderton. Make sure you
get the latest edition (first one came out in the mid-seventies
sometime). Most music stores that sell books and many book stores
    carry this.

| Brian,

Thanks; the title sounds like just the ticket - especially the part
about "Home". I'll check it out.

| I can recommend "Making 4 Track Music by John Peel. It's
published by Making Music Magazine, which is a free mag
distributed through the UK music shops.

They are at 20 Bowling Green Lane, London, EC1R 0BD
