| | The Massachusettes Institute of Technology Computer Music Journal is
about 4-10 years ahead of its time; that is, theories are printed in it
that become products some years later. I have an article in X:3, so
products based on my ideas should be appearing in the next year or so
;-). You can buy editions from about the previous year at the MIT Press
boostore (not the mit bookstore which is across the street in the
basement) in Cambridge facing out to the street off campus.
down from the health food store a few feet from the kendall square T
stop in boston. Buy one or two before subscribing. I have about 40 of
them that I hardly read in depth.
You may be able to buy the theremin issue at that bookstore.
You subscribe at MIT Press Journals; if you have another MIT journal
try the same address. It's like mail stop e40 or something.

There *is* a magazine out of CA called *Option* which is an interesting
rag. I just subscribed this year, after I saw an issue that had
*forty* pages of record reviews that ranged from bluegrass to Sun Ra to
    hardcore to worldbeat. Yeah!!!

It's bimonthly, they avoid the mainstream scene almost entirely. Some
recent cover stories were on Kate Bush and Laurie Anderson, that's
about as commercial as they get. Good editorials, too, including some
on the death of indie labels, why CDs are ripping off the public, etc.
Last issue had a fascinating tour diary of an experimental band from
NYC touring behind the Iron Curtain just before the Wall came
down...fascinating stuff. Lotsa ads for records that you won't want
your kids or Tipper Gore to find out about. Two-year paid subs get a
    free CD.

I can post the address in here if I can remember to bring it in.
