I don't see any `Monte Carlo Inn' in the latest Toronto phone book.

Perhaps it's the `Montecassino'? Or maybe the hotel isn't actually
in Toronto, but rather in one of the surrounding communities such as
    Mississauga or Vaughan or Markham?

No, the name is 'Monte Carlo Inn'. My mother doesn't have any address, she'll be
picked up at the airport. The only thing I got is the name.
I'm very happy that my mom's still able to travel around, but sometimes it's a
bit too much for me. She doesn't speak any english or frensh so I think you
understand my concerns.

| | The Monte Carlo Inn is on Derry Road in Mississauga. I don't know the
place at all but my suspicion is that it is likely to not be very nice.
In any case if you're mother's goal is to sightseeing in Toronto it's a
lousy location. See if she can get a hotel located downtown, the large
chains are most reputable. By all means check back here because it is
possible to wind up with a dive if not careful, still remember the time
friends booked themselves into the "Prince Cartlon Hotel" based on some
listings, the Prince Hotel is a nice hotel in North York, the Prince
Carlton was a downtown dump in a lousy neighbourhood (it was also known
as Larry's Hideaway for those of us who remember it, met my wife there
but that's a whole other story)

in downtown as well, and the Delta Chelsea.

| | I work out at one of our Distributors who happens to be a
two minute drive from the Monte Carlo Inn. At lunch I picked up
a brochure. It seems fairly new and also very clean. It is
located on Derry Road in Mississauga, almost entering Brampton.
It is small, only 65 rooms with a small restaurant on the main
floor. This Monte Carlo Inn reminds me of a smaller Best Western
chain or Days Inn. Clean but nothing fancy. This is what the
    brochure says.

    - 65 luxurious appointed bedrooms and suites
    - some rooms with whirlpool/jacuzzis
    - Cafe Monaco Bar/restaurant

    - 5 minutes from major shopping (more like 10 minutes by
car to Square One which is the only really shopping)

    - 20 minutes to Canada's Wonderland (they have bus trips to
      this tourist attraction

    - 30 minutes to downtown by car

    - 10 minutes to airport by car

    - satellite dish and TV system provides up to 20 stations

    - in house movie system available

You didn't mention if your mother was staying here as part of
a package and whether she will be travelling with others.
If so perhaps they already have daily trips planned leaving
from this hotel. There were lots of brochures from companies
offering tourist type daily adventures. Also the hotel has
a 1 day tour you can arrange through them to go to Niagara
Falls. They also offer a shuttle bus to the local Go Station
    is our commuter train service.

I believe this is a save and comfortable place to stay. However,
it is a fair distance from the city. But if she is with a group
who has transportation that may not be an issue.

If I can help any further let me know.

Re .5:
Laura,
thanks a lot for that info. That's exactly what I needed to have a good feeling
when my mother visits your town. To tell you the truth I didn't expected
something like that. The price sounded too cheap to me and while there were no
information on the hotel available ... well, you know my thoughts.
In fact it seems to be a good place for me too when I come to Toronto (especially
the whirlpool/Wonderland/shopping issues).
Just one other thing, do you know if there's a church in this area? I've been
with my mom at Boston twice and she likes the american style church very much.
Well, I can say she became a gospel-fan last year.
I think I owe you a beer ...
