841.0. "Travel in the Atlantic Provinces" by IXOYE::KEN (This world is not my home....) Tue Jun 28 1994 13:18

	Greetings!

My wife and I are about to embark on a 12 day vacation to the Canadian
Maritimes (PEI,Nova Scotia and Newfoundland). We plan to hit B&Bs mostly and
already have reservations for the trip out to North Sydney and a first night
on Newfoundland. Our questions are:

What would you suggest for things to do/visit on Newfoundland's western
shore. (We are planning to visit Gros Morne, and then head up to the Viking
village at the top of the penisula near Labrador)

Should we take the ferry to Labrador?

What should we try to see on the way to and from St. Johns?

What should one visit/do on Cape Breton Island? (We will stay the night
at a B&B in Louisbourg)

What is essential to see and/do on PEI?

One question we are still trying to wrestle with is should we spend
most of our time in Newfoundland and then see Nova Scotia and PEI and New
Brunswick on a later vacation since it far and cost $$ to get to Newfoundland
or since we don't know if and when we will be able to get back should we try
to see it all, but have less time in any one location? (this is our 2nd
anniversary trip and we do not yet have any children, but who knows how long I
can say that!)

We will leave Philadelphia on July 1 and must return no later than the
evening of July 13. I believe the Maine - New Brunswick border is about as far
as we will want to travel in one day so we need to try and determine when we
will leave Newfoundland as the ferry from Port aux Basques runs only twice a
day. We currently plan to arrive Port aux Basques on the morning of July 7th.
Your suggestions are deeply appreciated.

My DTN is 328-3151 and Mail is at IXOYE::KEN

This note is cross posted in CANADA and HOIDAY_TRAVEL. For the
Canadians in the noting audience I let you know that Canada won out over Mexico
for our vacation destination.
