| | The mainstage for this years festival is the Molson Showplace or
whatever it is they used to call the Shipdeck Stage. Only headliner I
can remember off the top of my head is Sonny Rollins.

Although Toronto has a much stronger club scene these days than Montreal
(I miss 2080) the lack of a site like PDA (big, convienient, close
to theatres and clubs) really hampers the Toronto festival in
comparison with Montreal's. Focusing on Harbourfront is better than what
was done in past years but Harbourfront is not an easy walk from anywhere
else. The ideal site would be Metro Hall, right on the subway, there
are several good theatres right there (the Glenn Gould in the CBC and
the John Bassett in the Convention Centre, RTH) but you'd have to close
King, Wellington, Front, Simcoe and John Streets to do it right, nah,
    It'll never happen.

| | not only 'cause I'm only about 2 minutes away from the harbourfront, but
since it's 'cut away' from the rest of downtown Toronto by the Gardiner
express way, the bumms etc. are not frequent visitors (although they'd
really appreciate jazz/blues a lot...). It's mostly only people that
live here and/or the ones that are interested in the ongoing happenings
are the souls of the harbourfront, so chances are it'll stay cleaner this
way than in the city centre...
for a while anyway...
