| | Being a Nova Scotian myself, perhaps I can help!
Halifax is a great city, fun nightlife in downtown, the waterfront is
part of a restoration project called Historic Properties - little
shops, great seafood resturants, nightclubs - small version of Boston's
Quincy Marketplace. If you call the Canadian Consulate's office in
Boston - they can give you the 800 # for the Tourist info in Halifax.
or the 1-800 operator - ask for Dept of Tourism - Halifax, NS
You should visit Citidal Hill while there. There are plenty of hotels
at various price levels and bed/breakfasts listings.
Hope this helps! I will be going to Cape Breton in August

| | Halifax has a great(safe) place to go bar hopping, etc. Spring Garden
Rd. has many stores and bars. The Thristy Duck above DJ's Tannery is
a good place to go, but like most bars in Halifax it will be crowded on
Friday and Saturday night. There is a dance/bar complex called
Lawerance of Oregano plus My Apartment and a restaurant which is very
popular! There is a nightclub called The Misty Moon which can be good
but it depends on what act is there. Keep in mind that ALL taverns and
lounges are closed on Sundays, only "nightclubs" can be open on
Sundays. Generally people don't go out at night on Sundays to party.
probably the most popular beach in the Halifax is Queensland, on the old
Chester Highway. It is very close to the city (by New England
standards) and is a good place to go on a sunny Saturday or Sunday, the
water will be warmer than Hampton NH, the drive out is quite scenic and
if you take the long way you can go by Peggy's Cove on the way (if your
so inclined). The best thing about Halifax is that most everything is
within walking distance of each other so there are lots of people out
walking around, so do what most of the locals do, park the car, have
fun and come back for the car the next day. :^)

    regards...john
