new highway between Hope and Kamloops was opened) in about nine hours.

I put the highways as somewhere in between. Apart from the Coquilhalla
which is the one John is referring to, none of the BC highways is
anything like a US Interstate. Most of the roads should be be able to
    drive at 80km/hr very comfortably.

By May weather is starting to warm up and is generally pretty fine. If
you have 2-3 weeks here there wait until you arrive and the decide
where you would like to go. It'll be really easy to just find motel
accomodation at any point you feel like stopping over.

When you arrive at the airport make a point of visiting the tourist
Information Centre and getting maps etc of BC.

    Have a great holiday.

    Rgds,

| | More specifically, Banff and Jasper are a long (>9 hours) day's drive
from Vancouver, while Barkerville is a more reasonable, but still all
    day, drive.

You might also want to check out the Sunshine Coast and Victoria, both
of which are day/overnight trips from Vancouver.

| | I would just add that the weather here on the coast is fabulous in May
    - great for Tennis, Biking, cycling, even sailing. However there is
still snow in the mountains at that time. A quick stop at a decent
bookshop will unearth at least half a dozen books on local hikes and
day trips. A nice trip can be combined with some ferry travel, as
Laura mentioned in .-1, to Vancouver Island or up the coast. For
a REAL ferry ride, drive up to the northern end of Vanc Island,
and take the long ferry ride up the inside passage to Prince Rupert!

    Happy trails
    Pieter

| | Any recommendations on for a good Bed and Breakast in the Vancouver
area? My wife and I plan to be in Vancouver August 9-11 and are
looking for a nice place to stay that is convenient to the major
    attractions.

    Thanks

| | Rather than create another note, I thought I'd pop this request in
    here.
I'm considering a move to Vancouver, from what I have read about the
place it seems like a real `outward bound' society, which is very
much what I like. But I ned to work!
Could someone please send me a copy of one of the local Computer
papers, I would like to read it and gauge the working climate, wages
    ect ect.
    Any help greatly appreciated!

| | I am NOT going to turn into a placement agency for Vanc. However
I am willing to pop into the internal mail a copy of the local
paper's Saturday career ads, and a copy of a lightweight local
thing called the Computer Paper. The latter has no job ads to speak of
and is produced for the PC/hobbyist/non-technical user crowd, but
it does give an indication of where the retail PC services market
    is at this point.

Send me vaxmail. And be mindfull that this is utilizing some of
    my "outward bound" spare time.

    Pieter
