A new hotel - VENTURE INN - was recently built on Lakeshore Road
in downtown Burlington.
It directly overlooks Lake Ontario. Burlington is adjacent to Hamilton.
I have never stayed in it but have been to the restaurant/night club
down below - A real nice place. It seems like an excellent choice if
one of your goals is to stay close to Hamilton, as Hamilton really
lacks in the hotel business.
I hear the rates are around $75.00 CAN for week days and $50.00 CAN
for week-ends. I don't know if it has a pool but the toll free number
is 1-800-387-3933.
By the way I am from Hamilton, and can recommend that you try 2 great
restaurants in the Hamilton area:
Black Forest Inn - German Food - Very Inexpensive ;^} but very
satisfying.
Ancaster Old Mill - Very Elegant and Expensive with great food.

| Hi man,
I just read yesterday on VTX that Deccies have some special pricing in
hotels such as Best western, Holiday inn and 50 others. I can't tell
you where to find it (may be employee advantage on US VTX) and I don't
know if it works in Canada. But it may help.
I worked 6 monthes in Toronto, 5 years ago for Sperry and it's a very
nice place; don't miss Niagara Falls! just SUPER!

April. I may stay 1-3 nites. I'd like to find a place to crash for
the nite. Nothing fancy, just lodging. Anybody out there got a

| Where in Toronto ? Remember when people say Toronto, they are now
looking at an area about 60 kms * 30 kms (40 * 20 miles) !!! Even if
lodging is cheap, no one wants to trek half way across the city to get
to iit!

reading your reply here reminded me that I forgot to resply to your
mail message ...
The area where Ridgeway is is just north of the Queen Elizebeth Express
Way, near the Humbar River. There is a road near there called the
Queensway that parallels the QEW, along this road are, I think, several
motels, though not within about 10 blocks of Ridgeway. I don't have any
names for you. If you can't find lodgingd in that area, then there is
a Holiday Inn, and a Ramada about 15 mins away (by Major Highway). From
Ridgway, head down the Queensway (east or west) to the nearest ramp onto
the QEW westbound, head west until you get to the Hwy 427 northbound,
then about 4 - 5 miles up the road you will see the hotels on your left
and right, with ramps leading off to them. YOu will have to go to the
next major street exit and double back to get to the Holiday Inn on the
west side.

No, but when you consider the geometry of the 95% of the main roads
around Toronto it's all very clear ...
Firstly, it looks like the Romans built them (long and straight)
Secondly, they all run North-South or East-West (approximately)
Yes there are a few major roads that wind like around, but they are
few and far between, unlike Britain where normally the shortest distance
between two points is either miles out of your way, or a road a snake
would break its back on!
The only town so far I have become totally disoriented in Canada is
Hamilton Ontario but then after I worked out how it lays, I had no
problem ... but in spite of living near Bracknell in England for almost
14 years, I could still become incredibly disoriented there ... talk
about needing a compass!

| Yeah, but Scooter, there are signs which still confuse ... like
"To 401 East" and it's pointing you west! Or 419 (the road to the
Airport) North which heads more West than north!

| It was my understanding that the Lake Ontario beltway portion of the
Grand Canal upset the north/south east/west grid in Toronto. Can anyone
confirm or deny this?

aid seldom available in England.

| I need a hotel near the airport for (probably) just a one night
stopover on my way to Calgary in December. We have 2 small children so a
good hotel with connecting rooms or a suite is preferable. Do we have any
corporate rates on any of the airport hotels? My memories of these
hotels is about 10 years old so any recommendations are welcome.

Sheraton near the Calgary ariport. It is near the CGO offices which

All the above have limo and/or bus service to/from the airport and
would be able to give you details about that if you call 'em.
