COME ON UP EH!! But careful, a place always SEEMS nicer than reality,
I know, I miss Saudi Arabia from time to time!!

| | Through my relatives, I feel I have a pretty good idea of the reality.
I am just stuck with the idea that I am in the wrong place.

    The "down south" is Massachusetts.

| | Practise up on the French and try for a job with DEC Canada.
French not required but helpful; especially in DEC Kanata (near
Ottawa).

| | How does one find out about jobs with DEC Canada down here we
have LIVEWIRE or VTX JOBS but they do not cover Canada. I would
like to know if there is some way of finding a listing of Canadian
    positions.

| | Paul, believe me, you don't find out about jobs in DEC Canada. I have
been in contact with Personnel in Toronto, Nepean, and Kanata. I have
submitted my resume to these locations and have been informed that I
need an Immigrant Landing Visa. And, per the Canadian Consulate, I
would need a job offer from DEC Canada before being considered to
emigrate to Canada (since I have no blood relatives there).

As a matter of fact, you need to keep in contact with several key
people to get any information, because available jobs are only posted
within DEC Canada. There are several comments and concerns regarding
the lack of posting via LIVEWIRE or VTX of DEC Canada jobs.

I am trying my "damdest" to relocate there by the end of the year.
Good luck in your venture, if you desire to relocate.

| | Digital Equipment of Canada doesn't need to advertise outside the
country to fill its positions. Especially when we are hiring no
one at the present time. Any one know how long the freeze will
    exist?

| | DEC Canada is hiring SWS persons. As of the end of December there were
50 positions to fill around the country in Sales or SWS. Anyone looking
for a position is best to contact a unit or district manager for the
vocation & district one would like to work in. I don't know all the
districts or what units exist, but here are some districts ...

ITC (Industrial, Transportation & Commercial) (Toronto area)
    SPS (Services/Public Sector) (Toronto area)
    Finance (Toronto area)
    Western Ontario
    Western Canada (B.C.,Alberta,Sask.,Manitoba)
    Eastern Canada (Quebec, N.B.,N.S.,P.E.I., Nfld)

(Not sure what districts are in Ottawa, but bound to be a couple)

The units in the Finance district (mine) are full up ... but if you
can get the name of a unit manager or Dm in one of the other districts,
you stand a chance - don't expect relocation funds. - and don't expect
personnel to come through - they will pass resumes to appropriate
managers, but if you are obviously too far away to interview easily,
the managers won't be interested - you have to sell them.
