Last night I received in the mail a form from the our local Youth
Soccer Association (Northboro), for conducting a criminal background
check (emphasis was placed on past sexual misconduct history). The
form was generated by MYSA but it wasn't clear if this was a mandate
for all programs (towns, coaches, etc.)....my hope is that this has
become a state requirment for all phases of youth soccer...anyone
know?

| About three months ago, I was sent such a form to fill out. It came
from the Director of MYSA Referees. The accompanying letter said it was
for all state refs to fill out and return.
Looks like its a statewide program.

| I had heard that this was becoming a MYSA requirement. I have not yet
received my copy from Northboro Youth Soccer. I'll chalk that up to
the vagaries of the Pony Express in Northboro, since Barrett and I
coach in the same organization.
In addition I am a registered MYSA Referee and I did not receive a form
fromthe Director of MYSA Referees. However, when the NVYSL Referee
Coordinator sentout his regular questionaire about times and availability
etc. one of the questions was whether the form had been submitted.
I answered "No"and requested more info on the form. So far no further
info has been received.
While I hate bureaucracy in general, I am all for this in concept. Our
youth are too important to all of us. It is a good idea to take a few
extra steps to help insure their safety.

| I was asked to be an assistant coach this year for my younger son's
town team in Burlington. I had to submit the filled out form along
with a photo to go with the ID card. So it looks like they are serious
about getting everyone to meet these requirements.

| Have to agree with you Bob, not a big fan with how difficult we adults
can make things, but of all the changes this year...I really think this
is the most positive thing being done.....
