3506.0. "Possible VC problems with NAS V2.0 BL10D" by KERNEL::FREKES (Like a thief in the night) Fri Apr 18 1997 10:43
Cross Posted in NOTED::LAT and IROCZ::TERMINAL_SERVERS.
Customer with an Alpha running OpenVMS 6.2-1h3, DECserver900TM running NAS V2.0
BL10D. All his users are being thrown off the server at the same time.
Indicating a possible VC problem. On the Alpha in LATCP he is seeing the
following counters increment every time the users are being thrown off.
Invalid Slave Slot Index
Repeat Disconnect of Slot by Master
Now I realize that the second one of these is not such a serious thing to
worry about. It may simply be a session just "winding down". But the first one
is a little confusing. As far as I know the Alpha has not been rebooted, or
had LAT shutdown. My understanding of this error is when an invalid circuit ID
is seen in a VC message. Possibly caused by a stale VC to a remote node.
Why would users from a terminal server be thrown off, and why would these
counters be incrementing?
Any input is greatly appreciatted.
