9706.0. "boot -fi hvmunix??" by PTOSS1::CYPHER () Fri May 02 1997 14:20
    I have an Alphaserver 4100 5/400 dual cpu 1gb sys that we were
    attempting to boot the V3.2G CD from dka500 and experienced a failure.
    The environment variable boot_file = vmunix from previous boots. I
    used the syntax >>>boot dka500. Everything went well thru OSF boot and
    on to Starting at 0xfff (etc), then the following message appeared:

    	WARNING: proc_type 7 / sys_type 16 unknown

    	Processor type is not configured or not supported (etc)

    The SRM console had previously displayed the strings:

    	CPU 0 booting

    	(boot dka500.5.0.1.1 -file vmunix -flags a)

    I successfully booted the 3.2G CD by entering the following boot
    string:

    	>>>boot -fi hvmunix dka500

    I found this suggestion via COMET but would never have guessed it. What
    is the deal here? I feel the failure came from "vmunix" boot_file
    variable, but what is "hvmunix"? Perhaps I missed something in the
    docs?

    Thanks,
    Dennis
