9456.0. "open3d & applications menu blank with su & bs" by SCASS1::FIFE (Dean Fife, on site consultant HUGHES Corp.) Wed Apr 09 1997 18:05
    I am having a problem with DU 4.0b & open3D 4.2. My customer has 40
3000-900 three headed (pmagd-ba) workstations. When they upgraded
to 4.0b (actually a fresh install) installed open3d 4.2 they noticed
that it disables save unders and backing store by default. They
edited the /usr/var/X11/Xserver.conf file and remove the -bs -su
options, reboot, login in as a normal user. And when they pull down
on the application menu from session manager it is blank.

It is like this for ALL users except root. And AFTER root logs in
ONCE and logs out, every thing NOW goes back to normal. They can log in
as a normal user, pull down the application menu and there are
    applications to choose from.

This worked fine under OSF 3.2g and (I'm not sure ov the version)
of OPEN3D. Their application needs backing store and save unders
enabled. So after very boot, they must log in as root. This problem affects
    40 workstation users.

A xdpyinfo show save unders & backing store enabled and a sizer -gt
     shows...

Any help would be appreciated, thanks. I am cross-posting this in
the open3d notes file (note#1273). They are also running C2 security.

    Thanks...
