In the patch README for 3.2d-1, the patch OSF360-063 patches a file
called
/usr/sys/conf/alpha/.mrg..files
Is this a typo? Should it be
/usr/sys/conf/alpha/#.mrg..files?

Nope, it isn't a typo. After usage in installation, the merge file is
renamed with a leading #.
