9144.0. "dup/close problems?" by NOBOZO::HAMILTON (Undetectable in everyday use) Wed Mar 12 1997 13:50
    Has anyone heard of a so-called "classic dup/close problem"
    in UNIX? In Digital UNIX? We're working with a partner
    who claims they occasionally see an interaction of open(2),
    close(2) and dup(2) such that dup momentarily closes the
    file descriptor its given, and an open, occuring on another
    thread, gets that file descriptor. (The environment is
    Digital UNIX V4.0B with Patch Kit 0002 installed).

    We think there's another problem somewhere, but agreed to
    ask the question in the Digital UNIX engineering and support
    arenas.

    Does anyone know of problems with dup/close/open interacting?
