8862.0. "DEClaser3500 printer configuration via Unix problem" by MSAM03::JANARDHAN () Mon Feb 17 1997 22:38
    hello,

I have network printer DEClaser 3500 which is configured to
downlaod print services via WNT server 3.51. It works fine, when I used
it to print jobs from other winNT systems and win95 workstations on the
same network. Futher, I have a Digital Unix ver 4.0a system on the
same network, the customers want to send print jobs from the Unix box
to the Same printer DEClaser 3500. I tried to do a lprsetup from the
Unix box and tried to configure as a remote printer, to my surprise
I could not send the print jobs to the printer.

I have configured the printer form WNT3.51 dos prompt using

    arp -s <ip_add of the printer> <lan_add>

and confiured the printer using the print manager for network printing.

Could any one help me configuring the unix box to print to the
    same network printer.

    Appreciate any help.

    Thanking in advance for help

    regards
    Jana.K.

| | If the printer does not support unix style lpd, then you need smb
    support.

I have several hundred printers using samba and it works fine.
