| | Topher, you will certainly be missed in here and elsewhere. Much
    success in all you do.

I spoke to Ro Reinke (Flaherty) today and she sends her and Don's Love
and Prayers to you and to all who have left and all still here.

She also said to stop by if you're ever out Athol way. To her bookstore
that is. (I said what a mercenary gal. :-) )

    Stay safe.

| | Topher,
I generally don't use notesfile space to wish well to those moving on,
but I think it's worth saying that DEJAVU will lose more than you will
in your leaving. My sincere congratulations and best wishes on this
particular "transition" (all puns intended :-).

    Another one.

    Good luck in life-after-Digital.
I'm getting depressed by all this.

	Best of luck to ya.
I've always enjoyed reading your notes.

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began
Now far ahead the Road has gone
And I must follow, if I can
		Pursuing it with eager feet
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet
And whither then? I cannot say

	peace,

Good luck, it's been a pleasure learning from/with you.
Many thanks also, to everyone else in this conference,
as my travels will take me away (yet again) tommorrow.
May you all find what you're looking for.
Best wishes,

I've learned a lot from you over the years. Thank-you.
Good luck in whatever you choose to do in the future; the rest it
takes to make it, you already have.

    We'll miss you.

| 1957.13 | What a welcome-back greeting. | DWOVAX::STARK | Quasi-note-o | Mon Jun 06 1994 10:00 | 9 |
| | Sigh. I just got back from being away from Digital, teaching a course in
another state and discovered that the place has been ransacked yet again
in my absence. Productive, creative, sometimes even brilliant people who
I've worked with for ten years here, all gone.

I think Topher will be one of the people I miss most of all, even
though we had never met in person.

| | re: .16,
I know when the time comes that I'll also miss one particular 'thing.'
    VaxNotes.

Notes is such a perfect kind of medium for people like me who
feel extremely awkward speaking with others and especially in groups but
who are very comfortable composing their thoughts at a keyboard. It's a
chance to almost approximate a relaxed conversation where I can think before
speaking - instead of my mind racing ahead of my mouth. That's in
addition to the unique opportunity to talk with hundreds even
thousands of people with whom I'd otherwise never have _any_ contact.

I don't get the impression that very many companies incorporate Notes
to the degree that Digital traditionally has, and certainly not the EIN
support we've enjoyed, or that Digital is likely to support it even
    minimally much longer.

    							kind regards,

    							todd

| | there was also a Law & Order epiode about a woman admitted to an
emergency room who was cut open and the fumes caused people to
pass out (the woman did). A toxicology workup said there were
traces of cyanide which were eventually traced back to some
peach/almond extract she was taking to cure her cancer. (The
doctor that prescribed this medicine was put on trial for
telling people that this would actually cure them when the
doctor wasn't sure/didn't have the data to back up the claim.)
