Has anyone heard of "Enuma Elish?" It's an account of the
Summerian/Babylonian/Akkadian state religion around 3500-500 BC.

I'm looking for some texts on it...

    Thanks,

| See if there is a nearby public library with a copy of the LaRousse
Encyclopedia of World Mythology. That should have a good summary of
    it.

As best I recall, the "Enuma Elish" is the (or "a") Babylonian creation
story. It starts with the male and female principles of chaos
producing the first generation of gods, goes on to the war between the
gods and chaos, and ends with Marduk proclaimed king of the gods and
ordering the organization of the cosmos.

I have heard there are other myths, very similar, but with a different
god proclaimed king, reflecting the differences in patron gods between
    different cities and dynasties.
