1570.0. "Somato-emotional response?" by SMURF::MCCOY (The Surreal McCoy) Thu Oct 31 1991 12:50
    Has anyone used a type of physical therapy called somato-emotional
    response? I have been suffering from irritable bladder syndrome for
    over two months now, and the specialist has been able to alleviate
    the symptoms and the pain only about 80%. But both he and I think
    that there's an emotional component (from a childhood trauma) that's
    exacerbating my symptoms.

    A friend of mine recommended that I try this type of treatment, which,
    from what I understand, uses body work to release tensions and the
    emotions causing them. I am so desperate that I'm willing to try
    anything, and I've made an appointment for Friday morning at Physical
    Therapy Plus in Hanover, MA.

    If anyone knows anything more about this type of therapy, I'd
    appreciate hearing about it.

    Thanks--
    Kirby
