I have been to Seven Stars, (and love it), not realizing they were

Ahhh, book stores, near and dear to my heart....

There is or was a Japanese or Oriental bookstore in Boston, a few doors
    up from Brattle book...

Consider, also, the wonderful treasures to be found in USED bookstores.
The wisdom of the ages (well, at least back to the dawn of printing),
lost to modern man (and woman), preserved and (sometimes) at a discount:

The aforementioned Brattle Book, of course, in Boston, off the Common.
An endless supply in the Cambridge area, especially around Harvard
    Square.

    In Suburbia:
Dunhams, in Bedford, on Main St (rt 225) just west of the
center of town traffic light. deja-vuish items towards the rear,
    	left hand side.

Book Bear, West Brookfield on Rt 9, about a mile past the center,
on the left (south). deja-vuish items upstairs, left as you come
    	off the stairs.

(Can't think of the name, anbody got a Worcester area phone book?)
Right hand side of Rt 9, part way to W Brookfield. Recently opened
shop. Lists "esoterica" as a specialty, had a disproportionate number
    	of deja-vuish items.

(And i could go on, but the yellow pages will do, BOOKS, USED...)

Standard disclaimer: Despite having given them lots of money, i have no
financial interst in any of these...8)>>.

Sorry for the delay, I'm just catching up in DeJa. Not sure where
you live, but look for a quaterly publication in health food stores/
bookstores whatnot called _Spirit of Change_. It serves the Central
Mass area, particularly Worcester and surrounding towns listing many
practitioners and the types of activities/fellowship you may be
    looking for.

Also, since I am on the staff of this publication I have some copies
of the Spring issue which came out about a week and a half ago.
Feel free to contact me off-line Jerry if you'd like a copy.

Cal, I've lived in Madison, Wisconsin for awhile and know of three
bookstores that will make for some happy browsing if you're
    looking for dejavu topics:
    - Shakti Bookshop, 320 State Street (608) 255-5007
    - Mimosa Bookstore , right off State Street
    - Ancient Future, Williamson Street

I know there are some in Milwaukee too, but couldn't give you
specifics. Maybe if you call Shakti, they can give you more info about
Bookstores around the Midwest. Bon Voyage!

If you're going to be in the Detroit area, I strongly suggest Mayflower

To get there, take Exit 7W (101A) toward Milford, then look for the
Lorden Plaza (with a Shaw's store) on the right. The bookshop is two
shops to the right of Shaw's.

Their collection of DEJAVU-type esoteric books far surpasses my own. (;^)
Nice people, great background music, excellent selections, will special
    order.

| | re .26

Finally! I checked for stores in the UP, and, to my surprise,
found *nothing* listed as metaphysical/new age. However, I do
know of one store in Marquette that you might enjoy. It's
Snowbound Books, 118 North 3rd Street, 906-228-4448. A great store,
lots of old/used books, as well as new ones. Well worth a visit if
you're a book_browser and love to get lost among them.

Escanaba and Sault Ste. Marie Chambers of Commerce both report having
none. (In fact, Escanaba responded with, "We don't have ANY stores
that sell crystal balls or ANYTHING like that!" I imagine there
really are such places up there, but this person reacted with such
paranoia that I didn't push it.)

Traverse City has one - Higher Self, 328 East Front Street, 616-941-5805.

While in the Traverse area, I highly recommend a side trip to Benzonia.
Gwen Frostic has a wonderful place there. Wildlife reserve, book shop,
gift shop. She writes wonderful stories, poems and such, and makes the
most wonderful block prints of nature's wonders. Windows open down
into the print shop where her block prints are made into books, notes,
calendars, etc. Gwen is a delightful, tiny little lady ... nearing
80 years old, who will welcome you like family, and happily sign your
    books or prints.

    Have a great trip!
