| | I received Volume 1 as a gift.

It's okay, but it didn't inspire me to seek out the remaining volumes.

On a related matter, they have another series called _The Enchanted
World_, which I also received as a gift. That one's for the most
part legends, fairy tales, and folk tales. Nice paintings, though.

old daughter really likes them).

I got four of the "enchanted series". Thought they stunk. Big
waste of money. Paintings were nice, but not for $17 a pop. After
I cancelled, I got numerous calls asking me why, when I told them
I thought it wasn't worth the money I spent on the books they tried
to sell me another series, when I told him I wasnt' interested,
"the operator", got nasty and hung up. Never again, Time lost
this sucker for Life (pun inteneded, bad indeed.)

    Only my opinion....

| | I went for the "Mysteries of the Unknown" series. I've got all
of the books to date, but I am nowhere near having them all read.
Of the ones that I have read, I find myself enjoying the little
one page stories the most. Some of the essays have been okay, but
they seem to go on with the topic way past the point that they should.
It starts out interesting and goes straight to boring. There is
an exception. I'm reading the book on Hauntings at the moment and
it's pretty interesting (so far). I plan on collecting all the
books in this series, but as for a rating I'd say they get about
    a 7 - 7.5 on a 10 scale.

I have been requested to post a listing of the titles of the books.
    So here it is:
		Mystic Places
		Psychic Powers
		The UFO Phenomenon
		Visions and Prophecies
		Mysterious Creatures
		Psychic Voyages
		Phantom Encounters
		Mind Over Matter
		Cosmic Connections
		Spirit Summonings
		Ancient Wisdom and Secret Sects
		Hauntings
		Powers of Healing
RE: last reply (David) - Do you have any other ones besides these?
I haven't read all of them yet, but the 2 that I have liked the best
are "Spirit Summonings", which gives an overview of the history of
Spiritualism, and "Ancient Wisdom and Secret Sects", which goes into
groups such as the Rosicrucians, the Freemasons, etc.

| | Linda,

Looking at the list you entered (.8), I believe that those are the
only ones that I've seen. The Powers of Healing isn't ringing a
bell for me, so you may be one up on me. Since I am working off
of my memory (which at this point in time I am far from trusting)
I will check to see what I have tonight and respond again tomorrow.

Powers of Healing only arrived in the last couple of weeks so you
may not have gotten it yet. I haven't read many of them, but I've
found what I have read to be a reasonable quick overview of the
    subject. I like 'em.

| | Re: .8 (Linda)

I checked over my "Mysteries of the Unknown" and found that I have
everything that you had on your listing. Yes, even the Healing
Powers book. I had sent in an inquiry to Time-Life asking for a
listing of the entire series. According to the list at the time,
the following list shows the books that we will receive in the future:

                          Miracles
                          Atlas of the Bizarre
                          Transformations
                          Psychic Healing
                          Demon Possessions
                          Curious Happenings
                          Enchantments

They had also told me that due to the preliminary stage of developement
of this series, the number of volumes, their titles and order of
publication are subject to change. This turned out to be true with
Healing Powers since that was not on the list.

So between .8 and this entry, if anyone was thinking of getting
this series, you now basically know what books are in this series.

                    Announcing, from Low-Life Books,
                      MYSTERIES OF THE OVERBLOWN
This provocative new book series provides amazingly arbitrary
explanations to events which lie entirely within ordinary reality.
Just listen to some of the stories described within ...
o In Malibu, CA, a woman suddenly feels that her grandson in New York
has just received a phone call bringing terrible news. She places a
frantic, long distance call ... and *the line is busy*.
			              ...IT'S DISMISSED AS COINCIDENCE
o A group of youths in a wooded clearing are held aloft by an unseen force.
They report hearing "wow, like, really freaky noises, man."
			              ...IT'S DISMISSED AS "BAD" ACID
o As reported by dozens of observers, numerous glowing lights appear in the
night sky over Denver, remaining until dawn.
			              ...IT'S DISMISSED AS STARS
o In Lynchburg, VA, a man sticks a fork in a toaster when suddenly a bolt
of energy shoots up his arm, knocking him unconscious.
			              ...IT'S DISMISSED AS STUPIDITY
We can no longer afford to ignore things which may not be complete
fabrications. Act now and you'll receive the exciting first book,
"THINGS THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT." After that, you'll receive one
book per month. If you don't want it, send it back within 30 seconds
for a full refund. Many exciting titles await, from "SPOOKY NOISES" to
"HOW TO TELL IF YOU'RE REALLY FROM ANOTHER PLANET."
each book is $89.90, billable in 10 monthly installments of

ONLY $8.99 EACH!!

| | Todd,

Reminds me of Woody Allen's parody of UFOology. He has things
like aliens swooping down and taking blood samples. They later
return and tell him "it's OK to marry Becky Sue!"
