         My girlfriend's brother came back from over a decade in
    Britain over a year ago and he told us that they don't have the
    same format for tv there. Is this so? Do you have "American"
    (Japanese?) VHS? If so, I have a copy of the series (complete
    with commercials, of course.) I now have access to a super VHS
    vcr so that I can probably copy the tape without losing too much.
    So, maybe we could work something out?

| 1049.2 | PAL vs NTSC | REGENT::WAGNER |  | Wed May 10 1989 13:06 | 9 |
| | He is refering to the lower level make up of the scanning signal
    of the video. The PAL standard is used in Europe and the NTSC standard
    is used in the USA. The two are totally incompatable. Unless somebody
    in the USA would happen to have a PAL recorder, just copying a VHS
    formatted tape from one to another would be of no use if both recorders
    are on the NTSC standard.

| 1049.3 | yes, please | YUPPY::GEMERTM |  | Thu May 11 1989 06:00 | 9 |
| | I know the problems NTSC versus PAL. When one plays NTSC on a PAL
    machine there isn't a lot to see. Conversion here in Britain is
    very expensive (#60 per recorded hour). However, I know quite a
    few people who have a machine that plays both so indeed I would
    be very interested in having an NTSC version, Frederick, so name
    your price! Thanks ever so much.
