| | I don't know if I'm dreaming or if this really happens. Many
times I have woken up and seen the figure of a person standing in
my room. I'm not afraid of this person, but I don't particularly
like him/her standing there watching me sleep. I sometimes stare
at the spot where I see the figure and once I'm convinced I think
somebody is there, I flip over and turn on the light as fast as
I can (which can be rather difficult sometimes in a waterbed).
Once I've done that, the figure/person is gone and then I easily
go back to sleep. It happened once when my SO was with me and
I even asked him if he saw what I saw, he didn't even wake up until
I got the light on and _then_ he asked what I was doing. There was
one time in particular when I opened my eyes and this figure/person
was standing right by my bed. That time I was really frightend
and reached out and got that light on really fast.. Usually my
heart is beating a mile a minute after I get that light on...

A friend of mine told me that if I tell "it" to go away it might
work... I've tried this and it worked for a while, but it still
happens once in a great while.

    Any ideas? Am I dreaming?

Well, there are a few possibilities.

One is that you're indeed dreaming. In that case, "waking up" to
turn on the light would make the figure go away.

A second is that "it" is some sort of supernatural manifestation.
Some of these are reputedly driven off by light.

A third is that it's some sort of telepathically projected image.
Then, turning on the light would "overload" your vision and blank
    it out.

When i shared my bedroom with my brother, he's had this same
experience. We shared an L shaped bedroom, and the first
few time it happened my brother Nick thought it was me up
late puttering around my section of the room, till once he said
it was bothering him that I was doing these pranks. The figure
he would see was about 3 to 4 feet tall. and would be seen
standing at the foot of his bed. He never could make out
features because we both read enough ufo book we would
call it the "humanoid". At the time I told him that I
thought it was "low blood sugar levels" that you have when
you first wake up. I do recall fearful impressions the last night
this appearance happened. Also these appearance would always
happen between 1 and 4 in the morning.
My brother is a very level headed software engineer type, one reason
why I think it was something other than low blood sugar levels was
that one night there was the sound of a large explosion in our
bedroom, I heard it from another section of the house and Nick
was in the room at the time. We think it was a poltergist event.

I would like to share an experience that is similar to what seems
to be happening to you and how I was able to deal with it.

There is a little history here, so please excuse my long windedness.
I was born in Germany and lived many years with a Great Aunt who
I became very very fond of. When I was 5, my mother and I came
to the U.S. My Aunt was very upset about my leaving but she would
write to my mother and keep up with how I was doing.

Time passes, and so does my Aunt. I had become a mother myself
and my daughter was about 5 years old. All my life I had "special"
feelings, dreams, etc. but when I tried to speak to my mother about
that she would tell me they came from the "devil" -- and stop it.
Well, most of us know from experience that you just can't stop it,
it is too much like eating or breathing. Anyway, I seemed to connect
to a group of people who also had these "feelings" and were willing
to speak and test them. One night we were "testing" telepathy and
during the experiment, one of the people in the group started to
go into some sort of instant trance. I got pretty frightened
(remember, my mother had **told** me where this stuff comes from!)
and tried to change the energy that had formed in the room. (Lights
on, coffee anyone?) A bottle that we had used as a primary focus
in the center of the room (covered) had filled with a sort of moisture
that could not logically be explained away. Along with that, my
best friend started speaking in german (her background was french
canadian - no german ever!) Ok, now I knew my mother was right and
I decided to go home and check out our experiment of telepathy on
my husband - I was to call the group back and give results. All
the way home I felt like something was in the car with me.

I checked our experiment and called them with the results. Even
though we tested "positive", they seemed more concerned that I was
ok, because "something" had left with me. One of the group even
"saw" a black crow on my shoulder. I tried in vain to sleep that
night, that energy was still in my room. About 4:30 am, I finally
decided to speak to it - and I asked if it was my aunt, and if it
was I knew she would not want to frighten me, so could she please
find another way to get me the message. Immediately the energy was
    gone and I slept.

The next day, even exhausted, I went to see my mother and talk to
her about the experience. This time she was not so hesitant. I
asked her what a black crow meant - she finally told me that in
Germany, my aunt had been a key member in a Wicca group, and their
particular symbol was the crow. She had also gone looking in some
old papers that particular day and out of the center had dropped
a letter, written in german by my aunt the day we left for America.
The letter (which I have to this day) was full of love and hope
for me and told me that no matter how tough times got, she woudl
be there for me. Mother had never seen that letter before - after
20 years and 2 house moves.

The following months my life found me at the "bottom floor", but
somehow, whenever I needed help it came through. Who knows, maybe
promises can be kept from the other side.

Anyway, this is a true story -- Why I present it to you is to show
you how I finally "asked" it to give me the message in a less
frightening way. It seems to me that if this energy is around you
so much, it may also be looking to give you a message.

    I hope this has helped.
