| 157.1 | Just read Wildfire | WFOVX3::ESCARCIDA |  | Mon Jun 30 1986 10:36 | 15 |
| | Just recently I picked up a copy of Wildfire, the magazine published
    by Sun Bear and found it to be very interesting. An article in
    this particular publication was on the Big Mountain situation occuring
    in Flagstaff AZ and was very enlightening. If anyone would like a
    copy of that article I would be very happy to generate it and mail
    it them. Just let me know.

    Of Sun Bear...I think I will probably subscribe to the magazine
    but I will wait and learn more of him before I arrive at any
    conclusions.
    Regarding Big Mountain.......Damn I wish there was something I could
    do....I feel so helpless.

    Basically, it deals with scared land being taken away from the Indians
    and thus forced relocation. History repeats itself folks.

    Big Mountain is rich in minerals, coal, and oil and is owned by the
    Navajo Indians.

    Mr. Moderator, would it be possible to copy the Wildfire Article
    and post it here? I have had requests for the article itself and
    was wondering if there are others who would read it if it were posted.

    I guess the question is .....should I? I will if the consensus
    is yes .....otherwise I won't waste my time and will just mail out
    copies to those who have already requested them.

    Let me know.

    I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to enter the article here.
    I would be interested in reading it if you don't mind typing it
    in. You might also include info on how to subscribe to Wildfire
    (if you have it).

| 157.5 | Write the Rep | VAXUUM::DYER | Wage Peace | Sun Jul 27 1986 12:17 | 5 |
| | The most effective thing you can do with Big Mountain is to
	write your representative and ask for a repeal of PL 93-531.
	Since this isn't a political notesfile, I'll put detail in
	FORUM (and leave a pointer here to the notesfile and the note).

| | Didn't ever go. I got involved in other activities that met my needs
    locally.

    I still think it's a good idea though.

    rest of his tribe (the Bear Tribe) have gone forward and are
    continuing to spread his 'vision' and still have Pow Wows and
    classes in Wa. per Sun Bear's (aka fun Bear 8-)..meant with love
    and respect) request.
