Charles Hoy Fort was an unusual man. He had enough money so that he was
able to do what he wanted. What he ended up doing, besides living a rather
hermitlike lkife in the Borox with his wife, was to collect, organize, and
publish stories of the abnormal.
By "abnormal" I don't mean insane; just things that were outside the realm
of accepted science. Strange jellylike substances falling from the sky.
Mysterious lights. People diosappearing without a trace. _Strange_ things.
Fort wrote four books: BOOK OF THE DAMNED, LO!, NEW LANDS, and WILD TALENTS.
His style was delightful.
The books are eminently readable today.
As a result of Fort's efforts, a Fortean Society was formed. Now, there
are several.
Some of his items closest to the psychic can be fiound in WILD TALENTS.

| I heard it throuht the Fortean Grapewine : There's a new US Fortean
mag forthcoming called THE STRANGE MAGAZINE with veteran mystery
researcher John Keel amongst other people. I will try to get more
info about this new magazine very soon.
