| | OK. Then why the change from "Kent State" to "Kent". Are they that
ashamed of the football coach that they have? I mean, even the Tar Heels
booted out Dick Crum and hired Mack Brown.

| | There is a Bowling Green, Kentucky but Bowling Green University is in
Ohio. Several of these fine institutions are also members in good
standing of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (Bowling Green,
Miami and Western Michigan) and Bowling Green won the 1984 National
    Championship.

| | Here's a bit of trivia a bet a few of you don't know. Back in the dark
ages the University of Chicago dropped out of the Big Ten. Ohio
University was going to replace them, but at the last minute the Big
Ten accepted another school. I think it was Purdue, though I can't
    remember for sure.

I can't imagine Athens, Ohio as a Big Ten town. It probably would be a
lot bigger than the two blocks it is now...and in those two blocks are
    26...count 'em...26 bars.

Anyone ever go there for Halloween?

Sounds like a few went outta business since the last time I was there.

| | If I remember my history correctly, Chicago and 9 other current members
of the Big Ten were charter members. After Chicago dropped out, the
Big Ten was minus a member for a few years until Michigan State came
in. Since I don't have a Big Ten guidebook, I don't know the answer
    for sure.

Since most of my knowledge comes from RTFM, if I don't have a FMTR, it
doesn't do me much good, I'm afraid.

| 407.12 | Dick Crum gone | SHALOT::MEDVID | try me on, I'm very you | Thu Nov 15 1990 10:05 | 10 |
| | Kent State (1-9) fired Dick Crum last night. KS won only once in its
last 20 games under Crum and have won only six games in his three years
    there.

His 22-year record is 112-77-4 (Miami of Ohio and UNC). He is the
    winningest coach in UNC history.

Where next? I think he's still got some winning in him.

CRUM'S BUM'S! :*) Even when he had his broke leg! He still made some
    stupid calls.

| | Yo Knorr, the man has turned the program around and you give him no
credit at all. I was one of the loudest critics of Mack but you have to
appreciate the Tar Heel football turnaround, even if you blame him on
sinking the program. The Heels beat Duke on Saturday and are actually in
the running for a bowl.
And you're still on his case.

| | Ohio University won its opener last night against Evansville, 75-68.
Believe me, after the past few seasons, this is something to get
excited about. Loosing Jamerson doesn't help the Bobcats one bit.

    Kent State beat Defiance, 93-74.

And Bowling Green, who is picked to win the MAC this year, killed
    Heidelberg, 116-80.
