While watching the ring announcer before the Douglas-Holyfield
fight not to mention Sugar Ray's annoying presence it occurred
to me that there ought to be a law that Michael Buffer be the
ring announcer for all championship fights.

There ought to be a law against artificial turf.

I agree with this. Buffer is absolutely the best. He adds to atmosphere of a fight, which is hard for someone in his postion to do. Jim M | |||||

I don't necessarily agree ... I could take or leave the "let's get
ready to rumble" line. I personally feel that the ring announcer, like
the referee, shouldn't draw a lot of personal attention. Announcers
like Buffer and Atlantic City's Ed Darian come across as having an
exaggerated sense of self-importance, and in my view, introduce a
    sleazy quality to the event.

If I were writing a law to restrict the profession to single
individual, it would designate Chuck Hull of Las Vegas - no frills,
no flash, just facts - delivered in a tone that suggests the fight, not
the announcer, as having some degree of importance.

| WELL, NOW THAT YOU HAVE ME STARTED, THERE SHOULD BE A LAW AGAINST
RIGGED FIGHTS AND PLAYERS THAT ARE PAYED OFF. ONE EXAMPLE IS ELWAY.
HE IS THE ONLY QUARTERBACK THAT CAN THROW A PERFECT BALL INTO A
DEFENSIVE MAN. ONE OTHER EXAMPLE IS THE FIGHT BETWEEN DOUGLAS AND
HOLLYFIELD. BOTH THESE MEN RIGGED IT TO MAKE MILLION.

    JUST AN OPINION
