The first couple of years will be tough for USC.It will be a big
adjustment going from playing so-so ACC teams and playing in the best
conference in the country.Clemson will not be so tough a game for the
Gamecocks after going through the SEC schedule.

not in a Big1x/BigEast/ACC basketball argument. If so, I agree as does
Miami. Supposedly they're off to join some new and improved Big East
alignment so they can play football and basketball against Syracuse,
Boston College and anyone else they can find that can field a football
team, I guess.
Georgraphically and in terms of athletics, South Carolina should fit in

| The SEC has in fact added USC to be the 12th team member!!! This was
announced tonight at around 7:30pm.
I personally feel that this will benefit USC in every sport!! And help
a great deal in recruiting!! I know it will be like death row also, but
I think this will only improve an already great football team!!

During the UT/Auburn game they posted the likely split in the SEC.The
SEC is going to have two divisions and have the winners of each
division play for the sec championship.Here is how they were listed
Saturday.
Alabama | Arkansas
Auburn | Florida
Kentucky | Georgia
Tennessee | LSU
South Carolina | Mississippi
Vanderbilt | Miss. St.

South Carolina could have it rough having to play Tennessee,Auburn,and
Alabama every year,but Vanderbilt and Kentucky should help them out in
the win column.Will enjoy going to Columbia to see the Vols play the
Gamecocks even though its a couple of years away.

There is no way the SEC is going to split these three teams up with the
rivalry between them.The third saturday in October is a big game for
Tennessee fans and Alabama fans as well...Plus the Alabama/Auburn game
is one of the biggest games of the year in College football.

| Q.B. Shawn Jones hurt his foot and will be out this week for sure and
questionable for the following week.
Both tailbacks were hurt, nothing serious...pulled and strained leg
muscles. Listed as questionable for this week.
One of the off. line men( Dodd said his best linemen) I can't remember
his name, has bruised ribs and also questionable for this week.
I don't think Fuller was scared, he just wasn't ready for their strong
defense and did panic some and try to force the ball. He(Fuller) said
that one ball got hung in the wind at the end zone and on the other two
he said was poor judgement!! Woods said he felt the loss did them good
and showed them what a strong defense will do to you, and they should
be ready for the remaining games. We'll see!!
Dodd said that the turnovers were the deciding factor and that he was
glad that things fell Techs way and that the next game could be the
other way around and Tech be the loser. He said Carolina was a much
better team than they showed sat. night. IMO.....He's just being
nice:-):-)!!
I feel Carolina will get back on track and get back in the top 25, I
hope!!

| Jones being out for the Maryland game doesn't help Ga Tech's cause.
I was impressed with Tech's defense and the 'Cocks stayed in the game for
a while but just like State, they folded in the 2nd half against the
constant pressure of the Tech Defense.

Like I said, the defense of USC was the only bright spot and that wasn't
too much of a shine, but considering the amount of time those guys were
out there, I think they did a great job by holding Tech to only 27pts.

| USC rolls this past weekend against a "weak" East Carolina team, final
score USC 37 E.Carolina 7.
USC looked really good, but it's hard to say sense they played a beaten
team, but hey, they still looked good. Alot of mistakes in the kicking
department, which they better get fixed before Fla St. comes to town.
We have a freshman standout by the name of Rob Deboer from Omaha, Neb.
He is an excellent back. Seems that N.D., Nebraska, Colorado all
recruited this guy and let him go!!! He wanted to play both Baseball
and Football and only USC was the only one willing to let him do that.
We down here are glad to have him. He will only add to an already great
Baseball team(He is hitting .526) and plays catcher, I believe. He sure
as heck helps out our Football team and I hope they use him alot more
than they have been. He didn't even play against G.A. Tech, not that it
would have made a difference, but you never know!!!

all there was to it. Taking nothing away from Citadel, but they wanted
this game. They had nothing to lose and everything to gain if they beat
Carolina and they did, just plain whipped them and dominated the Cocks.
I sure feel sorry for Carolina this week during practice!!! Woods even
pubicily apologized for this loss to the fans on the news and said this
was the worst loss of his career. I couldn't believe it, it just had me
in awe and I didn't know what to think.
I hope they get their act together and win the rest which is doubtful
at this point and the only way I see them getting a bowl bid is by
winning the remainder of their games and I hoping for one HELL of a

| Another disappointing loss, at the hands of a more worthy team makes it
alittle easier to swallow. We had two interceptions dropped, one would
have went for a td, but somehow he dropped it. Not that it would have
changed anything, but I'm sure it would have helped. The USC defense
again played most of the game. The offense was three downs and punt all
day.
We have S. Ill. coming to town this saturday, can't say its a sure win
cause its not. Should be, but its not. I hope they can punish this team
and get all its frustration out on them and get some confidence built
up before we travel into tiger town. We will just have to wait and see.

| USC is high on a list of teams being considered for the Dec 15,
Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La. Even if they lose to Clemsuck they
could still be giving a chance to play there if some other things
happen. I would like to see this, maybe we could win this one. Baylor
is going to be one entry and if LSU doesn't win both of it's remaining
games USC would be the preferred team even if they lose one of their
last two.
Well, maybe we get a bowl after all!!!!! Here's hoping!!!!

| Hey, This is the year!!!! We finally win a bowl and hopefully I will be
there if we do happen to go. Hell, if State can go to a bowl, then we
can. You know the saying, keep trying to you get it right!!! Lord knows
we have had the chances. Maybe he will help us this year, seeing how we
are "Drug Free" now!!! Just say NO!!!!!:-) :-)
It was reported today that LSU would not got to this bowl even if they
won their last two. The Independence said that USC would be the other
team even with a lost to Clemsuck(We will beat them) as long as we beat
WVA. If USC losses to Clemsuck then the winner of USC and WVA on
turkey night would go to the Independence Bowl. If USC beats Clemsuck
then they will go nomatter what happens on turkey night. Remember USC
would not let it's team go last year due to exams being the same week
and the Leaders of USC got alot of upset letters on that move and I
feel that was one reason USC got whipped by Clemsuck so bad(45-0). The
players wanted to go, but the university said no and from what I hear
most of the players said, F*ck it, it don't matter how we do against
Clemsuck so why even try. This year USC has said they would accept the
bid if it was extended. We got to pray, just to make it today!! :-)

| TTom made an anti-Carolina comment a few days ago that hit me with a
cold dose of reality yesterday while digesting the sports
section. (Given the sheer volume of anti-Carolina comments made by
TTom, more specifics are obviously necessary at this point. :^( )
Anyways the thought was that UNC fans, in their snobbery and
self-righteousness, are only concerned about the team in baby blue,
practically ignoring the competition. Now in defense of this I could
easily point to his own hypocrisy, which concludes that everytime
Carolina loses it's a "choke", regardless of the competition, but this
time I won't do that. Simply, I agree.
UNC suffered a horrible beating at the hands of South Carolina a week
or so ago. I classified the 2nd half as the worst performance ever by
a Carolina squad, at least in my tenure as a fan. And yet I read where
the Cocks laid a horrible beating on the Temple Owls, a Top 25 squad!
So, congrats USC, and accept my apology for a very un-Dean like failure
to congratulate the opposition for what had to be an incredible win.
(Special congrats to ass't USC coach Jimmy Black, engineer of our 1982
Title.)
