| | I'll go with the Det-riot Lions also, but my pick is Mark Spindler who,
after being shunned in the draft, will show his worth and lead the
    league in tackles and sacks.

I'd like to pick Reggie Rembert, but the Jets don't have anyone to
throw him the ball. Pitty. Blair Thomas will have a Curt Warner-type
career due to the artificial turf at the Meadowlands.

Also, I predict the trophey will be named the Jeff George Memorial
Trophy after too many hungry defensive linemen make Jeffy a permanent
fixture on the Hoosier Dome turf.

First of all, he has to sign. Second, he has to beat
out Johnny Johnson from San Jose State who has really
showed that he wants to play. We'll see had J.J. fares
    		against the Bears this weekend.

As far as Thompson goes, he out to prove his worth first
by signing a 1 year contract to prove that he is worth
the bucks he is asking for. Then renegotiate after the
season. The longer he stays out, the harder it's going
to beat out a impressive J.J.

| | Rodney Hampton, NY Giants because:

    1. He plays behind a big, strong offensive line that could be
among the best in the NFL this year.

    2. He plays in a conservative offense that loves to rush the
football around 40 times a game

    3. He is a multi-dimensional player who runs with speed and power,
has great hands that will be utilized as a reciver out of the
backfield and will return kickoffs ( at least early in the season).

    4. He will be on national TV @ 8-10 games this season.

    5. He plays in the media mecca of America, New York.

Naturally I picked a Raider...., and it's a good thing too, because
of all the entries within this topic for rookie of the year, only
Aaron Wallace LB Raiders and Johnny Johnson RB Cardinals, are among
the leaders in the NFL at their respective positions. Wallace has
4 sacks thus far, and Johnson has rushed 93 times for 423-yds averaging
    4.5-yds/carry and has 2 TD's.

| | Just so there is an entry within this topic with BETTER stats than
Aaron Wallace, I'll select James Francis.

BTW, I wouldn't consider a player tied for 17th in sacks as 'among the
    leaders'.

Francis is tied for 4th place in sacks with 6.0.

    >BTW, I wouldn't consider a player tied for 17th in sacks as 'among
    >the leaders'.

Sorry Nelly, but he's not tied for 17th, but rather 5th. This is
    the way it goes:
There are 3 players tied for 1st with 7 sacks each,
There are 4 players tied for 2nd with 6 sacks each,
There are 5 players tied for 3rd with 5 sacks each,
There are 4 players tied for 4th with 4.5 sacks each,
    and
There are 5 players tied for 5th with 4 sacks each.

As far as whether or not you consider them leaders is irrelevent,
because the NFL rating system considers them leaders and that is
where I extracted the data from. You picked a good one in Francis,
but then again you had the benefit of waiting 'til six games into
the season before making your pick.

Sorry Carlos, but Nelly is right. By your numbers he is ranked

doesn't matter that they are tied.

OK then Wizard, suppose nobody else gets a sack this weekend

up 4 notches to 13th as your logic has it, or would he move up 1
notch to 4th, the way that I see it. I guess what's throwing me

than who is rated 16th or 15th????? Are you guys in management

If those were like golf standings or similar standings that I've
seen, this is what it would look like:
	1. Player x (tie)
	1. Player y (tie)
	1. Player z (tie)
        4. Player a (tie)
        4. Plyaer b (tie)
	4. Player c (tie)
	4. Player d (tie)
        8. player e
        8. player f
        8. player g
        8. player h
        8. player i
etc.
It all depends on how you look at it. If it were golf, the poor unfortunate
saps that won would have to split the pot....

BTW, you're begging in your attempt to rank Wallace 5th!!!
When a guy has 16 people with better stats, how can you (with a
conscience) rank him 5th? Now, there's no need to repeat your

    it!!

Also, I'm not a manager.....nor do I understand the implication.

No, no, no. You forgot to apply the RFF (Raider Fan Factor). If
Wallace gets a half a sack this week, he immediately is tied for second
place, even though he's behind 12 other players, some of whom might
even have more sacks then he.
