I counldn't find the "Lips" Page topic, but this one must be the best
place to ask.
I heard his solo on the famous "From Spirituals To Swing" concerts
produced by John Hammond in 1938 and 1939, now available on CD.
This was his reunion with Count Basie since his Kansas City days.
I belive he left Basie band in 1936 and was not in "Complete Decca
Recordings." I'll try Bennie Moten's "Moten's Swing," but are there
more rcordings featuring his play, especially solo.

Maybe some reader of this conference is a Hot Lips expert
(so to speak).
I thought Page was on at least some of the 1937-9 Deccas, but may well be
wrong. I could check pretty easily if noone else knows.
At one point I was given some Hot Lips Page tapes by a KC music fan. They
were tapes of him leading small "all-star" type groups in the 30s and 40s.
I have the impression that you'll find his best solos on these kinds of
small group sessions, but will see if I can get a line on that as well.
