| | Hi Ivan,

Why not? As a starter, cost. The SW800 and SW500 have been cost
reduced frequently - and they are still too expensive according to
    "the powers that be"!

I don't remember the details (since I wasn't working the product in
those days) but I believe that the antistatic wrist strap was a
discussion topic before ECO release - as in "Should it be included or
    not?"

I think it was believed that ALL Field Engineers would have one with
them at ALL TIMES. What was required was a place for the wrist strap
to be plugged in. So in the front and rear of all SW800's is an ESD
bolt. So again, why add cost?

A last - more trivial issue - is where to place it? There is space
for the "wrist strap pouch" on the door, but it's about 20" ( meter)
from the rail where the strap needs to attach. So the strap would
probably be disconnected from the rail except when needed.

Just some possible reasons why there is no wrist strap....

| | Ivan,

Yep - that's what it's there for! One in the front and one in the
back... I think when I first saw it, I had to ask one of the
assemblers or the manufacturing engineer, "What's that for?" Since mfg
has moved to NIO (2000+ miles away) I can't just walk the 100 yards to
the mfg line to ask those sorts of questions. We have SBB's, shelves,
and cabinets in the lab, but they are usually prototypes or early
production - AND are DEFINITELY not in the same condition as they were
    first built!

I received your exchange message, but our exchange server has been up
and down for the last 3 weeks, so I still use VMS mail for most of my
mail! (and not to mention, I'm not very exchange-friendly yet....)

    			Later...
