I want to put a s/works shelf into split bus, the io module is 8 bit, I
need to put a terminator into the backplane of the shelf.

My question is can I either the BA35X-ME 16 bit active terminator or
must I use the BA35X-MB 8 bit terminator with the 8 bit io module.
The drives are all -VA variant (narrow). Shelf is BA35X-KC

    many thanks for any replies.

| Phil,

The preferred method is to use the BA35X-ME. Since your drives are
all -VA's the BA35X-MB would work. However, if you ever add a -VW
drive to your system, you would then need a -ME. Do it right from the
beginning, then you don't have to worry later on....

The difference between the -MB and -ME is that the -ME terminates the
upper 8 data lines, while the -MB grounds these lines. [A secondary
feature of the -ME is the pin that projects through the backplane
indicated that the -ME is installed (and where). The -MB does NOT have
    this feature.]
    			OK?

| many thanks, i suspected what you have confirmed, but it's always nice
to get a second option if your not 100% sure, I've now ordered the -ME

    thanks
