| | No I do not think that that is a supported config. Use an SW500 or 800
or buy a Raid 450 package if you aren't going to need anymore than 24
    drives.

| 6632.2 | I have to disagree with JP.... | SSDEVO::INDERMUEHLE | Stonehenge Alignment Service | Tue Apr 29 1997 09:21 | 8 |
| | Actually, you can mount the BA350-Mx shelf in a 19" cabinet and then
install the controllers. CSS is doing this all the time.
You might contact CSS and inquire. They use the BA35R-MR and BA35R-SF
and configure all kinds of things, Intel and Alpha in Retma racks.

| | Thanks. I've sent mail to (I think) the product manager. Is there
anyone else I should ask? I looked at CSS' excellent Web site
    (http://quotsr.mko.dec.com/css_custom_packaging/#AlphaServer 2100), and
did see a bunch of information. But I didn't find a part number for a
    rack-mountable HSZ.

    Thanks!

| | I would also have to agree with John and disagree with my first
response, I was looking for support for the BA350-mb and not the CSS
shelves. It looks like it is fully supported.

Your primary confusion lies in thinking that the HSZxx is something that it
is not. Or something like that, there, thing, stuff.......
The HSZ is a module that plugs into a controller shelf. The controller
shelf is what is rackmounted. Both the BA350-Mx and the BA35R-Mx are those
controller shelves and they can be both mounted in a 19" RETMA rack,
depending on the mounting kit used.
Hope this helps a little.

Ah ha. Yes that helps a lot, thanks! Yes, I did not realize that the
HSZ family went inside the rack-mountable BA35/6R; these devices ARE
listed in the CSS Cookbook mentioned in .3.

I walked around our computer room, and found a BA350-MA book, and now
see what one looks like. That helps.

    Thanks again!
