6534.0. "KZPSC+AS4100 hangs if WNT HCT run" by EWBV03::HASEGAWA (Katsuya HAsegawa) Tue Apr 01 1997 07:49
	I have a problem with KZPSC-XB (3 channel raid) and Alpha Server4100.

I have created RAID 0 mirror set on KZPSC using RCU, then I installed
Windows NT 3.51 into D: drive. Heavy load to the system disk causes
SCSI bus reset and system hangs. Sometime the disk access stops.
It looks like HBA initiated scsi bus reset.
	Here is the configuration.
	Alpha Server 4100 5/400, dual processor , 1 gb memory, AlphaBIOS 5.28
KZPSC-XB revision D01, Tow RZ29B-VW are connected KZPSC using
BA356-KC split bus. KZPSC write back cache is enabled. SCSI
	transfer rate is 10M.
I used Windows NT Hardware Compatibility Test (HCT) disk stress
program to simulate user job. Parameter of diskstress is c:12, D:25.
I think this is maimum load to the disks.
Swapping AlphaServer4100 with 5/300 , removing 1 cpu, swapping kzpsc
, swapping ba356 and cables did not help. I tried Windows NT 4.0
	but the problem persists.
I tried to change cache size on KZPSC. Both 4mb and 32mb
	configuration caused the problem.
This problem did not happen on AlphaServer2100A with exacly same
	option and configuration.
The only workaround was to disable write back cache. So I think
this problem originates from the combination of Alpha Server 4100
	and KZPSC.
	Is this problem already IPMTed?
	Thanks
	Katsuya
